OUR STORY

Since 2013, the Hern Family Foundation (HFF) has focused on assisting individuals, families, and communities that have experienced significant physical, economic, or societal hardship. In furtherance of this philanthropic mission, the Hern family founded the Hern Policy Institute in 2026 to research, innovate, and advance public policy that prevents poverty, improves physical and economic well-being, and fosters societal flourishing. While HFF has helped countless individuals and families in our community during their time of need, HPI’s mission is to advance ideas that prevent economic hardship before it ever begins. At HPI, we believe policies that embrace freedom and economic liberty can ultimately alleviate poverty and produce prosperity within our society.

The Hern Policy Institute’s mission is to research, develop, and promote public policies that protect economic freedom, encourage prosperity, nurture individual well-being, strengthen families, and help society flourish.

HPI has filed its application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS, and our application is currently pending.
