Tulsa World Covers Oklahoma House Interim Study on Free-Market Affordable Housing Solutions
From the Tulsa World:
"Lawmakers motivated to make housing more accessible and affordable might consider ways to streamline construction permitting and building processes, among other strategies, experts who contributed to a legislative study held at the Capitol said Thursday."
The article continues, "An interim study on housing issues was planned by Rep. Rob Hall, R-Tulsa. He said taxpayer-supported construction hasn’t succeeded in making homes more available or affordable on a wide scale, and neither have eviction moratoriums or rent control policies. He said he asked for the study so that colleagues might explore regulatory reform and other free market solutions... One of the issue experts Hall invited to speak, Hern Policy Institute Executive Director Robert Aery, said accessibility to affordable housing can have direct impacts on things like whether a young couple might choose to have children, which in turn can affect the long-term economic health and viability of a community."
